Rakuro Hizutome loves mastering terrible games, but Shangri-La Frontier gives him a polished virtual world with challenges worthy of those hard-earned skills. Playing as the bird-masked Sunraku, he pursues its rarest encounters alongside Emul, a talking Vorpal Bunny, and fellow players whose friendships extend beyond a single game.

Wethermon and the formation of Wolfgang

Sunraku's encounter with Lycagon leaves him marked by a curse that limits his equipment. It also helps draw him into Rabituza, Emul's home, where her father Vysache recognizes his potential. The game's unique scenarios become his route toward secrets most players have never seen.

Together with Arthur Pencilgon and Oikatzo, Sunraku defeats Wethermon the Tombguard, one of the Seven Colossi. Their success opens access to rare rewards and clues about the world's forgotten past. The three form the Wolfgang clan, united by their appetite for difficult fights rather than a conventional guild hierarchy.

New equipment and familiar rivals

Season 2 builds on those rewards. Sunraku helps Bilac develop her crafting abilities and seeks equipment capable of supporting his increasingly demanding adventures. Lycagon's mark still prevents him from freely using every new piece of gear.

He also returns to the robot fighting game Nephilim Hollow, where Rust is a formidable rival. That meeting carries back into Shangri-La Frontier: Rust and Mordo have a unique scenario leading toward another of the Seven Colossi, Ctarnidd of the Abyss. Sunraku joins their effort instead of staying focused on one monster alone.

The rematch with Lycagon

Sunraku fights alongside Psyger-0, whose player is his classmate Rei Saiga. Akitsuakane and the Vorpal Bunnies also join the battle. Their coordination buys Psyger-0 time to prepare a devastating attack while the others handle Lycagon's tricks.

The group defeats the wolf they faced, but it was a shadow of Lycagon, not the original Colossus. Sunraku's larger pursuit remains unfinished. The battle also gives him new allies whose skill matters as much as his own.

Ctarnidd's city and the GGC cliffhanger

The Ctarnidd scenario draws Sunraku into an undersea city governed by inversion. He meets the fishman Araba and learns to work with the city's strange rules, including during his fight with its powerful sea creature. Ctarnidd itself has not been defeated.

Outside the game, Oikatzo is professional player Kei Uomi, and Pencilgon is model Towa Amane. Kei recruits Rakuro and Towa for a Galaxia Heroes: Chaos exhibition at GGC, alongside fellow professional Meg. Their opponents include American champion Sylvia.

A sponsor obligation pulls Kei toward a separate tournament. Rakuro and Towa plan to stretch their exhibition matches long enough for him to return and face Sylvia. The team arrives in costume and under aliases; the season closes as the exhibition is introduced, before its competitive outcome.

The quick reminder

  • Wolfgang consists of Sunraku, Arthur Pencilgon and Oikatzo; they have defeated Wethermon.
  • The defeated Lycagon was a shadow, and Ctarnidd's challenge remains unresolved.
  • GGC's exhibition is about to begin, with Sunraku and Pencilgon buying time for Kei.
