Spoiler scope: Contains spoilers for Season 1. No events from later anime seasons or unadapted source material are included.
Sasaki buys a pet bird to brighten his life as an exhausted office worker. Peeps turns out to be a reincarnated mage, and the quiet life Sasaki wants becomes a balancing act between another world, Japan’s psychics and magical girls.
Peeps and a business across worlds
Peeps is Piercarlo, the powerful Star Sage from another world. He teaches Sasaki magic and takes him between the two worlds. Sasaki sells modern Japanese goods through the merchant Marc, hoping to fund a comfortable life rather than become a hero.
His business brings him into the orbit of Viscount Mueller and the politics of the Herz Kingdom. When Marc faces execution, Sasaki uses trade and negotiation to secure his release. Mueller’s daughter Elsa also crosses into Japan, making the separation between Sasaki’s two lives harder to maintain.
Hoshizaki, Shizuka and the Bureau
In Japan, Sasaki helps Hoshizaki during a psychic confrontation. His magic is mistaken for a psychic ability, and Akutsu recruits him into the government Bureau that handles supernatural incidents. Sasaki keeps Peeps and the source of his powers secret from his new employers.
Shizuka initially belongs to a hostile psychic group, but becomes Sasaki’s ally and transfers to the Bureau. Unlike Hoshizaki, she learns about his connection to the other world. Magical girls introduce another danger: Magical Pink regards psychics as enemies, and Peeps must intervene when a confrontation escalates.
The Season 1 ending: another world intrudes
Magical Pink and Magical Yellow bring the conflict to the Bureau itself. Sasaki and Shizuka respond to Hoshizaki’s call, and Sasaki helps resolve the immediate standoff. He still has to juggle his Bureau duties, trading business and friends on both sides.
The final scene shifts to Sasaki’s young neighbor. A demon appears during a violent incident at her home and offers her a pact, introducing a supernatural conflict beyond the ones Sasaki already knows.
The quick reminder
- Peeps is the reincarnated Star Sage, not an ordinary pet.
- Shizuka knows about the other world; the Bureau does not know Sasaki’s full secret.
- The neighbor’s encounter with a demon is a separate unresolved threat.
